I've been hooked on animation and storytelling my whole life, filming my first animation aged 9 with a super-8 camera. I studied Classical Animation at Dublin's renowned Senior College Ballyfermot, winning an internship in Visual Effects at Walt Disney Feature Animation, France. Credits as a drawn effects animator include the title sequence for Thunderbirds (2004) and Disney’s The Tigger Movie (2000 - Family Tree sequence). In 2008 I trained in feature film storyboarding at Aardman Animations under the tuition of Frank Gladstone (Disney Feature Animation, DreamWorks Animation SKG).
My role as a story artist is built on 16 years professional experience and a love of storytelling, acting and cinema. I enjoy working with both established TV characters, such as Bob the Builder and creating new ones, such as the pre-school series, Boy and the Dinosaur for 1461 Ltd, which I co-created, produced and directed. Other recent storyboarding credits include Aardman Animations BAFTA winning series Shaun the Sheep and Ludorum's Annie nominated Pre-School series, Chuggington. As well as drawing classical 2D boards, I have CG storyboarding experience which enables me to plan production ready shots with a director as a digital cinematographer.
My story, education and producing skills combined to produce the multi-award winning4mations Digital Short The Astronomers Sun at Duchy Parade Films for Channel 4 television. I also enjoy teaching animation, in schools, universities, museums and festivals.
