I've been hooked on animation and storytelling my whole life, filming my first animation aged 9 with a super-8 camera. I studied Classical Animation at Dublin's renowned Senior College Ballyfermot, winning an internship in Visual Effects at Walt Disney Feature Animation, France. Credits as a drawn effects animator include the title sequence for Thunderbirds (2004) and Disney’s The Tigger Movie (2000 - Family Tree sequence). In 2008 I trained in feature film storyboarding at Aardman Animations under the tuition of Frank Gladstone (Disney Feature Animation, DreamWorks Animation SKG).
Currently storyboarding on a new animated series, Robozuna, at Kids Cave Entertainment for ITV Studios and Netflix, my role as a story artist is built on 18 years professional experience and a love of storytelling, acting and cinema. I enjoy working with both established TV characters, such as Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed for Beano Studios and CBBC and creating new ones, such as the pre-school series, Boy and the Dinosaur for 1461 Ltd, which I co-created, produced and directed. Other recent storyboarding credits include Bob the Builder (series 19&20), Hit Entertainment, Aardman Animations BAFTA winning series Shaun the Sheep and Ludorum's Annie nominated Pre-School series, Chuggington. As well as drawing classical 2D boards, I have CG storyboarding experience which enables me to plan production ready shots with a director as a digital cinematographer.
My story, education and producing skills combined to produce the multi-award winning 4mations Digital Short The Astronomers Sun at Duchy Parade Films for Channel 4 television. I also enjoy teaching animation in schools, universities, museums and festivals including The BFI Academy, Into Film and Leeds International Film Festival. I co-curate and direct Animation Central, the UKs biggest family animation celebration at. Leeds Young Peoples Film Festival, supported by Arts Council England and BAFTA Kids.
Jury experience includes the Academy qualifying International Animation selection at Leeds International Film Festival.
